Isang Strengthens as it Exits Philippines

(UPDATE) Tropical Storm Isang (Omais) intensified into a severe tropical storm but weakened a few hours later as it made its way outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday, PAGASA said.

At 4 p.m., the ninth storm of 2021 was spotted 605 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. 

Isang packs maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gusts of up to 105 kph moving northwest at 15 kph.

No storm warning signal was raised as Isang is unlikely to directly affect the weather condition in the country, PAGASA said.
