The 1Sambayan opposition coalition on Wednesday said it would endorse at least seven candidates for senator as it prepares to formalize its slate for the 2022 elections.

A proclamation event will be held on Jan. 28 to introduce the seven candidates, 1Sambayan co-convenor Howard Calleja said.

While the coalition is still finalizing its list, the seven senatorial candidates who are confirmed to be part of their slate are:

  • Former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat
  • Sen. Leila De Lima
  • Human rights lawyer Chel Diokno
  • Sen. Risa Hontiveros
  • Lawyer Alex Lacson
  • Labor leader Sonny Matula
  • Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV

"We are still open for others, but for the 28th we will declare those seven in our senatorial lineup," Calleja said.

1Sambayan earlier picked Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Francis Pangilinan as their standard bearers for the 2022 elections.

The coalition aims to form a single slate of national candidates to run against the administration ticket.
