The Philippines on Thursday received 500,000 more Sinovac vaccines, bringing its total inventory of jabs to eight million, according to Filipino officials in Manila and Beijing.
The government is building vaccine supply to innoculate at least 50 million people this year, enough for herd immunity against the coronavirus by late November. It is preparing to vaccinate the fourth priority group that includes delivery riders, grocery staff, teachers and other economic frontliners.

Thursday's vaccine shipment was the last from Beijing this May, Philippine Ambassador to China Chito Sta. Romana said in a Facebook post. "More vaccines from Sinovac are expected to be purchased in June and the following months," he said.
