8,571 New COVID Cases Confirmed on Day 2 of MECQ

The Philippines on Tuesday reported 8,571 new COVID-19 cases as hospitals continue to struggle with the surge in infections.

The fresh cases bring the total active infections to 165,534, the Department of Health said. Since the start of the pandemic, the Philippines has tallied a total of 884,783 COVID-19 cases.

There were 137 new deaths and 400 new recoveries to bring the totals to 15,286 and 703,963 respectively.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal are under MECQ until April 30.  Also placed under MECQ are Santiago City, Quirino, and Abra.
