At least 31 openly-LGBT Paralympians are competing in the Tokyo Summer games this year, marking a new high for the sporting event that strives for inclusion.
The LGBT participation in Tokyo is more than double of what was recorded in the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, SB Nation blog Outsports said, expecting the list to grow even more in the coming days.
The current list spans at least 10 countries and a dozen sports, with women "massively outnumbering men".
The only man on the list so far is Lee Pearson, an equestrian from Great Britain.
There are also at least three nonbinary or neutral athletes participating in the games, the site said.
The Tokyo Paralympics began this week with over 4,400 athletes competing. Only five come from the Philippines.
Just two weeks ago, the Tokyo Olympics wrapped with a record-breaking count of at least 185 LGBTQ gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and nonbinary athletes participating. The number was triple of that in Rio.
