Former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has passed away at 90 years old, confirms Lim's chief of staff, Ric de Guzman.

This was announced just a day after incumbent Manila mayor Isko Moreno announced that Lim had contracted COVID-19. De Guzman also previously denied rumors about the former mayor's death.

Born on December 21, 1929, Lim became the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation in 1992 and served as the Mayor of Manila later that year. He was reelected as Mayor of Manila in 1995. He also served as Interior Secretary from 2000 to 2001, and was elected as Senator of the Philippines in 2004.

Lim was also the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation in 1992, as well as a Superintendent of the Philippine National Police Academy and Director of the Western Police District.
