Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's Lakas-CMD part are adopting the tandem of Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte-Carpio in the 2022 elections, party leaders said Wednesday.

The party's executive committee approved resolutions supporting the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr's only son for president and President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter for vice president.

Marcos' party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, had earlier adopted Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential bet. Duterte-Carpio took her oath as member of Lakas-CMD on Nov. 11, the same day she resigned from her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

Duterte-Carpio initially shunned higher office but later said that she was seeking the vice presidency to as a middle ground with her supporters who have been pushing her to run for a national post.

Lakas-CMD earlier said that Arroyo had no hand in Duterte-Carpio's decision to settle for the vice presidency.
