Metro Manila local government units will start distributing the cash aid for the two-week enhanced community quarantine to qualified beneficiaries on Wednesday, Aug. 11, the chairman of the Metro Manila Council said Monday.
NCR mayors agreed to start giving out the cash aid simultaneously on Wednesday morning, Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said.
"Napag-usapan namin na lahat ng ating siyudad sa Metro Manila, sa Miyerkules magsisimula lahat. Simultaneously lahat, magsisimula yung pagbibigay ng financial assistance sa lahat ng ating mga residenteng affected dito sa ECQ," he told TeleRadyo in an interview.
Cash aid for the August ECQ was set at P1,000 per low-income individual up to P4,000 per low-income household. The government over the weekend released the guidelines for the release of the financial assistance, allowing for its distribution this week.
Olivarez said the cash aid would be released through digital wallets and face-to-face distribution.
"Sisiguraduhin namin na may protocol na maayos sa pamimigay," he added.
Metro Manila LGUs have 15 days to manage the distribution of ayuda, but this period can be extended upon request, Interior Sec. Eduardo Año earlier said.
Each LGU is also tasked to create its own Grievance and Appeals Committee to address complaints of their constitutions during the ayuda distribution.
Metro Manila was placed under ECQ, the strictest of the four community quarantine classifications, last Friday to curb the spread of the more contagious Delta coronavirus variant. It is expected to end on Aug. 20.
