Sen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa on Monday met with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as the deadline for candidate substitution in the 2022 elections approaches.
Dela Rosa posted a photo of his meeting with Duterte-Carpio, who just got back to Davao City after meeting with former Sen. Bongbong Marcos in Cebu over the weekend.
"Just reminded her that Nov. 15 is fast approaching," Dela Rosa told reportr when asked about what transpired during their meeting, referring to the last day of the candidate substitution for the 2022 elections.
The senator, who filed his candidacy for president a few hours before the filing period closed on Oct. 8, has been open about his readiness to be replaced by Duterte-Carpio in the position if it is the will of his party.
Should the Davao City mayor decide not to run for president, Dela Rosa said he would push through with his candidacy.
"Kung ayaw ni Inday Sara na tanggapin yung offer ng PDP-Laban, then I am serious candidate," he said in an earlier interview. "I filed my candidacy both as a principal or a supernumerary. Pwede akong palitan anytime. Party decision should always prevail."
Duterte-Carpio on Sunday reiterated that she has no plans of seeking the presidency in the 2022 elections as she filed her candidacy for reelection as Davao City mayor.
She also previously said she would not run under the PDP-Laban party.
