Beware of Fake BDO Officers Calling to Increase Your Credit Card Limit

Don't fall prey to these scams.

The Philippines' largest bank, BDO, has warned clients last week of fake officers calling them up for an activation code sent via text and claiming that they qualified for an increase in their credit card limit.

Sy-led BDO said the activation code is actually a one-time pin or OTP linked to the bank account. Once this random set of digits is obtained, anyone can confirm a transaction remotely without the account owner's approval or intervention.

BDO said officers will never ask clients for their credit card number, credit limit, expiry date, CVV, or OTP--all of which scammers attempt to obtain in order to transact with your credit card.
