The BGC-Ortigas Center Link and the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge connecting the cities of Mandaluyong and Makati are expected to complete works in June and July respectively, the Department of Public Works and Highways said Wednesday.

The BGC bridge has a target opening date of June 12. The Estrella-Pantaleon bridge will open some time in June, said DPWH Sec. Mark Villar

"Last week nabuhos na po yung final portion ng main span, so kaya na natin lakarin," Villar said, noting that the 500-meter long Estrella-Pantaleon bridge will have room for pedestrians and cyclists.

The pre-existing bridge initially had two lanes, but once it reopens in July, it will have four working lanes, including 3-meter sidewalks and bike lanes.

Both bridges are part of the EDSA decongestion program. Once open to motorists, it's seen to reduce traffic on the main thoroughfare by 20% or almost 50,000 cars daily, Villar said.
