Sen. Bong Revilla on Wednesday offered Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio the chairmanship of Lakas-CMD as she vies for the vice presidency.

Revilla said she was giving Duterte-Carpio his full support as the top candidate of former President Gloria Arroyo's party in next year's elections.

"I have full trust and confidence in Mayor Sara Duterte's leadership, I believe that she will steer the party towards victory in 2022," said Revilla, the incumbent Lakas-CMD chairman.

Duterte-Carpio took her oath as member of Lakas-CMD last Thursday, the same day she resigned from her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago. Two days later, she substituted for Lakas-CMD's original vice presidential bet Lyle Uy.

Lakas-CMD also denied reports that Arroyo had a hand in Duterte-Carpio's decision to run for vice president. The Davao City mayor also said she decided to vie for the vice presidency a middle ground with her supporters who have been pushing her to run for a national post.
