Presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos is sorry for the traffic jam caused by his motorcade in one of Quezon City's busiest roads on Wednesday, his spokesman said.
Wearing his campaign color, red, supporters on motorbikes joined Marcos caravan with running mate Sara Duterte-Carpio on Commonwealth Avenue, stalling the flow of vehicles as they passed.
Marcos' spokesperson Vic Rodriguez said the organizers did not expect the huge crowd. "Humihingi na rin ng paumanhin at pang-unawa ang BBM-Sara UniTeam sa mga motorista, byahero, pamahalaang lungsod at maging sa MMDA kung ang nasabing Unity Caravan ay nagdulot ng pagsikip sa daloy ng trapiko," he said.
The five-hour motorcade kicked off at the eastbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue in front of the Commission on Audit's head office, and occupied all of the highway's eight lanes both northbound and southbound.
The heavy traffic prompted the Quezon City government to issue an advisory to motorists to take alternate routes. The motorcade ended at Welcome Rotonda, just along the border of Quezon City and the city of Manila.
Rodriguez thanked the Quezon City government for the assistance it provided to make the event happen.
"Nagpupugay ang tambalang Bongbong Marcos at Sara Duterte sa pakikiisa ng lahat na taga-lungsod Quezon, maging ano man ang kanilang paniniwalang pulitikal, sa nasabing pagtitipon," he added.
Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor, who is running for mayor in Quezon City, helped organize the motorcade.
