(UPDATE) Presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos' negative drug test will "stand on its own", his spokesman said in response to critics who doubted its accuracy.

On social media, critics of the only son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos said the printout of the drug test did not reflect the correct address and logo of St. Luke's Medical Center Global City where his office said the test was done.

Marcos Jr took the test  after President Rodrigo Duterte said the week before that one of those running to succeed him was a cocaine user.

"The result of Bongbong Marcos drug tests will stand on its own and if anyone who has any question as to the authenticity, methodology or process done, they should address it to the institutions where the examination was conducted," Marcos Jr.'s spokesperson Vic Rodriguez said.

"Hindi namin papansinin ang mga tao o grupo na likas ang pagkakaroon ng negatibong pananaw sa buhay. Walang sasapat na paliwanag sa mga ayaw mapaliwanagan at hindi namin kayang ipaunawa sa mga sadyang ayaw umunawa," he added.

Rodriguez told critics to spare institutions that processed Marcos Jr. drug tests from politics.

"Wala po silang kinalaman sa politika, huwag natin silang sirain bagkus atin silang respetuhin," he said.

Marcos Jr. said he didn't feel that the President was referring to him and that he took the drug test to assure Filipinos that he was against illegal drugs.

"In spite of that, I believe it is my inherent duty as an aspiring public official to assure my fellow Filipinos that I am against illegal drugs," he said.

Sara Duterte-Carpio tests negative for drugs

"Uniteam BBM-Sara’s stand against illegal drugs is united and unequivocal. This can be seen from both our negative tests as well as our common stance against the proliferation of illegal drugs and the need for effective measures of prevention, rehabilitation, and enforcement," she added.
