Former senator Bongbong Marcos said Friday he would run for a national position in the 2022 elections, without specifying which office.
Marcos, who lost his electoral protest to Vice President Leni Robredo, said he was keeping his options open, including a potential tandem with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
"I'm certainly going to run for a national position," he told the National Press Club. "Everyone's keeping their hearts close to their chests so I think I will have to do the same."
Duterte-Carpio topped the list of preferred presidential candidates for the 2022 elections, according to a Pulse Asia survey released in June, with Marcos, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Sen. Grace Poe sharing econd place.
In May, Marcos met Duterte-Carpio in Davao. His sister Imee denied they discussed the 2022 polls during the "social gathering."
