Carlo Paalam Finishes with Silver Medal in Tokyo Olympics

Carlo Paalam finished his Tokyo Olympics campaign on Saturday with a silver medal, cementing the Philippines' best finish ever in the summer games.

Paalam yielded to Britain's Galal Yafai at the Kokugikan Arena. This extends the Philippines' wait for its first gold medal in the Olympics. 

His silver medal equaled the feat of compatriot boxers Nesthy Petecio also in Tokyo and Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco in Atlanta in 1996.

The Philippines is ending its Tokyo campaign with a gold medal in weightlifting from Hidilyn Diaz, the country's first ever, two silver medals from Paalam and Petecio and a bronze from boxer Eumir Marcial.
