The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines has revised the Oratio Imperata or obligatory prayer for protection against COVID-19 to include a plea for the effectiveness of vaccines to end the pandemic.
The revised Oratio Imperata now includes these lines on COVID-19 vaccines: "We thank you for the vaccines developed made possible by your guiding hands. Bless our efforts to use these vaccines to end the pandemic in our country."
The Oratio Imperata is issued in times of calamity and great need such as strong typhoons and droughts. The oratio on COVID is prayed before or after mass.

The Philippines as of Feb. 1 has tallied a total of 527, 272 COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 487,574 have recovered while 10,807 have died.
An initial supply of COVID-19 vaccines is expected to arrive in the country this February as the Philippines rushes to catch up to other nations that have started their own mass vaccination programs.
