Cebu City's Enhanced Community Quarantine To Be Extended Until May 15

Mayor Labella will issue the executive order next week.

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella has announced the extension of the city's enhanced community quarantine, saying, "In light of the increasing number of individuals found positive of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and based on the recommendations of our health experts in the city, I have decided to extend the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) being implemented in the entire city until May 15, 2020." 

Mayor Labella added that confirmed cases in the city continue to rise because they have been doing "targeted, mass testing of residents in barangays where there are positive cases." He will issue the executive order next week.

On April 21, a newborn baby tested positive for the virus in Cebu City. Today, April 22, the city reported a total of 312 COVID-19 positive cases. 123 of these cases are from the Cebu City Jail. 

Meanwhile, Luzon is still under enhanced community quarantine, which is scheduled to end on April 30. President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he will decide on whether to extend the lockdown or not on Thursday, April 23.

Based on the latest report by DOH, there are a total of 6,710 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, with 693 recoveries and 446 fatalities.
