Cebu City Lifts Face Shield Requirement

Except in PUVs, hospitals.

Cebu City said Wednesday it removed requirement for people to wear face shields in most public places, ahead of a national government policy.

Face shields will only be required in hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories, other medical facilities, and public utility vehicles (PUVs) except jeepneys with open windows and ventilation, according to the order from acting Mayor Michael Rama.

Cebu joined at least four other cities -- Davao, Iloilo, Manila, and Biñan, Laguna -- in dropping the face shield policy.

The Palace and the Department of Health earlier asked mayors to enforce the use of face shields until the government's pandemic task force eases the policy.

The DOH will submit its recommendation on the face shield policy to the IATF by Nov. 11.
