Construction on Clark International Airport's newest domestic terminal in Pampanga nears completion and is set to open in July, the transportation department said Tuesday.
The New Passenger Terminal Building will bump up the airport's passenger capacity to 12.2 million, three times more than the current 4.2 million passengers.
The terminal will start domestic operations in July with international flights to follow in September 2021.
Some 1,600 Filipinos were hired for construction and more jobs are expected to be generated once the terminal formally opens.
The Department of Transportation also has an airport express in the pipeline. The line will be included in PNR Clark Phase 2, which will connect arriving travelers from Clark International Airport to Makati in Metro Manila in just 55 minutes.
