General Guillermo Eleazar, the chief of the Philippine National Police, said Saturday he ordered the withdrawal of a criminal against against Colourette Cosmetics CEO Nina Ellaine Dizon-Cabrera over her supposed links to a vaccine selling scam.
Eleazar said that after reviewing the cases filed against those involved in the scheme, the PNP legal team concluded that Cabrera "should not have been included in the criminal complaint based on the appreciation of the pieces of evidence on hand."
Cabrera exposed the alleged scam before she was tagged by police in the case.
"With this development, I already instructed the CIDG to withdraw the cases filed against her before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office in the soonest possible time," he added.
Eleazar said he also ordered the relief of Police Lt. Col. Arnold Moleta as chief of the CIDG Eastern Metro Manila District Field Unit "for lapse in judgment and for command responsibility in the conduct of investigation."
Cabrera earlier said she would fight the complainst filed against her over the vaccine slot selling scheme.
On May 21, she posted screenshots of her alleged conversation with a vaccine slot seller when she was looking for vaccines for her employee. She was shocked to find out that scammers were selling vaccine slots.
Cabrera said she provided all information to law enforcers who reached out to her after she exposed the alleged racket. She said she had not been contacted by police since the case against her was announced on Wednesday.
The government earlier warned the public against buying purported vaccine slots intended for priority groups.
