The Commission on Elections has shortened daily voter registration hours until April 4 as the country faces a renewed surge of COVID-19 infections that has prompted tighter restrictions in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

All Offices of the Election Officer nationwide will only accept applications for voter registration from Mondays to Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Comelec said.

Previously, voter registration was done from Tuesdays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The public is reminded that health and safety protocols will continue to be strictly implemented in all Comelec offices," Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.

Individuals who have set appointments prior to the notice of shortened voter registration hours should contact their Office of the Election Officer for instructions on rebooking, the Comelec said.

For those who will register, wearing of face mask and face shield is required. Applicants are also advised to set an appointment online.
