The Philippines on Friday logged 1,894 new COVID-19 cases as businesses were allowed to deny entry for unvaccinated individuals starting December.

The day's tally brought active cases to 29,105. The Department of Health also reported 1,421 new recoveries and 170 new deaths.

Overall, a total of 2,813,115 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,738,975 have recovered and 45,035 died.

The Alert Level System, a five-tier restriction system, is taking effect in phases. By Nov. 22, Filipinos nationawide will say goodbye to the quarantine acronyms used for the past two years.
