890 COVID Cases Logged, Second Lowest in 2021

The Philippines on Wednesday tallied 890 new COVID-19 cases, the second lowest for 2021, as authorities prepared three days of ramped up vaccination from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

The day's tally brought active cases to 17,864. The Department of Health also reported 1,710 new recoveries and 200 deaths. The lowest single day tally for 2021 of 849 was recorded on Nov. 16.

Overall, a total of 2,828,660 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,763,114 recovered and 47,682 died.

A total of 17 duplicates were removed from the case count, 15 of which are recoveries. There were also 179 recoveries reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Local destinations like Baler in Aurora have reopened to fully-vaccinated tourists swab-free. Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated individuals are permitted entry upon presenting a negative RT-PCR result.

Select schools in Pasig City skipped the plastic barriers as students returned for the first time in almost two years.
