Curfew Agreed by Metro Mayors Under 'Strict' GCQ, Says Roque

(UPDATE) Metro Manila will reimpose a curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the general community quarantine, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Wednesday at the start of the GCQ, which will last until Aug. 31.

The curfew hours were agreed upon by Metro Manila mayors, said Roque, who is also spokesperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19. The cities of Manila, Muntinlupa and Pasig, which have curfews in place prior to the GCQ, have this week to adjust to the agreed time.

Mass gatherings are also limited to 10 people, including religious services. Backriding is allowed if the riders live in the same address, he said. Gyms and internet cafes are not allowed. Local officials will determine restaurants' dine-in capacity.

"The unified curfew now is 8 to 5. I understand the mayors voted, the majority voted the curfew hours is 8-5," he said. "This is a fresh approach to COVID."
