Dagupan Sizzles With 53 Degrees Heat Index, Hottest So Far This Year

Dagupan City sizzled on Friday with a heat index of 53 degrees, the hottest so far this year, underscoring the need to stay safe during the hot summer months, the local government said.

The record heat was recorded at around 2 p.m., the Dagupan Public Information Office said, citing DOST-PAGASA Dagupan. Heat Index refers to air temperature plus humidity as felt by the human body.

A heat index of 53 degrees is considered "dangerous" and falls within orange alert, the second highest under a four-step warning system.

This heat index level could cause people to suffer from heat cramps and heat exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable for those with prolonged exposure.
