8,773 COVID New Cases Confirmed, Total Active Infections Near 100,000

The Philippines on Thursday reported 8,773 new COVID-19 cases, a fresh all-time high, bringing the total active infections to nearly 100,000 as new restrictions were rolled out to arrest the surge in infections.

Thursday's total beat the previous single-day increase of 8,019 COVID-19 cases on Monday, March 22.

The fresh infections bring the total active COVID-19 cases to 99,891.

There were 56 new deaths reported, bringing the total death toll to 13,095. There were 574 new recoveries, bringing the total to 580,062.

Since the start of the pandemic last year, the country has reported a total of 693,048 COVID-19 cases.
