President Rodrigo Duterte's hometown Davao City will be under the stricter general community quarantine (GCQ) until Nov. 30, Malacañang said Friday, citing a spike in COVID-19 cases there.
The order is "effective immediately," Duterte's spokesperson Harry Roque said. Davao City was earlier placed under the more relaxed modified general community quarantine or MGCQ.
The President assigned Melquiades Feliciano, deputy chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 for Bacolod and Cebu, to head teams that will be deployed to Davao City to assist in pandemic response activities.
A One Hospital Command Center, which coordinates referrals to medical facilities, will also be established in Davao City according to Roque.
Law enforcers were directed to help implement granular lockdowns in the city, Roque said.
