Classes in the basic level could start either in August or September and would still be done via blended learning, the Department of Education said Wednesday.
The DepEd said it was looking at three dates for the possible start of classes for school year 2021-2022: Aug. 23, Sept. 6, or Sept. 13.
“We will release the final school calendar for school year 2021-2022 once we get the final approval of the President,” the DepEd said.
The DepEd earlier proposed to resume face-to-face classes in areas classified as low-risk for COVID-19 transmission but President Rodrigo Duterte rejected the proposal, citing the risks posed to students and teachers.
“Enhanced blended learning will continue to be implemented,” the DepEd said.
The Philippines first shifted to blended learning last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students were given the option to use online tools, printed modules, and radio and television lessons.
