Students at home can try out the government's blended learning program before the formal opening of classes, as the Department of Education (DepEd) made the five-day test broadcast of DepEd TV available on free TV via IBC 13.
From Sept. 21 to 25, 26 episodes of TV lectures will occupy the 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. timeslot. The final dry run is crucial to see if the broadcasting logistics and procedures work, according to DepEd Director Abraham Abanil.
Subjects include Kinder, Araling Panlipunan, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Science, English, Filipino, Math, Komunikasyon, Physical Science, Arts & Music, Statistics, and Reading & Writing.
Abanil said 130 episodes per week of DepEd TV lessons will be aired in major networks for the major subjects when school year 2020-21 starts on Oct. 5. While DepEd can't produce episodes yet for all subjects, the target is 220 episodes per week by January next year.
DepEd is still looking for 200 teacher-broadcasters who are both experts on their subject matter and have a great personality.
