DFA: COVID-19 Recoveries among Filipinos Abroad Now More than Twice the Number of Deaths

The Asia Pacific Region has the most number of overseas recoveries.

As of May 12, the Department of Foreign Affairs reports that the number of Filipinos abroad who have recovered from COVID-19 is now more than twice the total number of deaths.

Out of the 2,233 confirmed cases, 669 patients (30% of the total cases) have recovered or have been discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, the fatality count stands at 261.

Since their last report on May 11, the DFA's bulletin states that there have been 38 new Filipinos infected by the virus, 25 new recoveries, and one death.

Currently, the Middle East and Africa have the most Filipino patients undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at 537, while the Asia Pacific Region holds the most number of recovered/discharged patients at 240.
