Digital COVID-19 vaccine certificates could be available to all fully vaccinated Filipinos by October,  the Department of Information and Communications Technology said Tuesday.

The online portal for the digital vaccine certificate known as VaxCertPH was soft launched on Monday in Metro Manila and Baguio.

The DICT expects to improve glitches in the portal within the month as it eyes a national launch in October, Usec. Manny Caintic said.

"Ini-improve muna namin ang proseso para pagdating sa national launch eh na-perfect na natin at naiwasto na natin ang proseso," he told Malacanang reporters.

"Perhaps within October we will try our best," he added.

The digital vaccine certificate aims to unify the varying COVID-19 vaccine cards issued by local government units.

Caintic clarified that the digital vaccine certificate is not an immunization passport and is not meant to replace the "yellow card" or International Certificate of Vaccination issued by the Bureau of Quarantine.
