DITO Telecommunity on Monday officially launched in Metro Manila with a P199 promo, challenging the dominance of Globe and Smart in the capital region.
The Philippines' third telco is a joint venture between China Telecom and businessman Dennis Uy and had previously launched in Metro Cebu and Metro Davao on March 8 with an unli-data package for users.
According Uy, over 29 million Filipinos nationwide are covered by the telco. SIM cards are available in 3,000 partner stores nationwide and online via Shopee and Lazada.
At 11 a.m. on Monday, DITO will be available in 100 cities and municipalities nationwide, including all areas in Metro Manila, said DITO Chief Administrative Officer Adel Tamano.
From May 17 to June 30, DITO users can avail of the following services for only P199:
- 25 gigabytes of high-speed data
- unlimited texts to all networks
- unlimited DITO-to-DITO calls
- 300 minutes of calls to other mobile networks
In its first year, DITO promised to cover at least 37.03% of the country with a minimum speed of 27 megabits per second (Mbps). By the end of its five-year commitement period, the company hopes to have achieved 84%, with a minimum speed of at least 55 Mbps.
