DITO is Online in These Areas Starting March 8

The country's third telco, DITO Telecommunity, on Tuesday released a list of services areas covered by its Mar. 8 commercial launch in Metro Cebu and Metro Davao.

The joint venture between China Telecom and businessman Dennis Uy had reserved the following prefixes for its service: 0991, 0992, 0993, 0994, 0898, 0897, 0895 and 0896, according to the Philippine Star. It was not immediately clear which will be used at launch.

Upcoming service areas will be located within the 37% population target, or roughly 8,860 barangays, with a minimum speed of 27 megabits per second.

DITO must meet its voluntary commitments every year in its first five years of operations, or it could lose its P24 billion performance bond. By the end of this five-year period, the telco hopes to achieve 84% coverage as promised, with a minimum speed of at least 55 Mbps.

The telco has expressed intent to exceed the 84% goal.

DITO will be available in the following areas later this week:

Metro Cebu

  1. Carcar
  2. Cebu City
  3. Consolacion
  4. Danao
  5. Liloan
  6. Mandaue
  7. Minglanilla
  8. Naga
  9. San Fernando
  10. Talisay

Metro Davao

  1. Panabo
  2. Tagum
  3. Carmen
  4. Davao City
  5. Digos
