The Department of Labor and Employment on Wednesday reminded employers that employees who work on the upcoming February holidays are set to receive additional pay.
The labor department's Labor Advisory No. 2, series of 2021, prescribes the payment of wages for the declared Special (Non-Working) Days for February.

President Rodrigo Duterte issued Proclamation No. 986 last year, which set Feb. 12 and 25, 2021 as special non-working holidays. Feb. 12 is in celebration of Chinese New Year and Feb. 25 is in commemoration of the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
Employees who will report to work on the said holidays will be paid an additional 30% of their basic wage in the first eight hours.
If the employee works in excess of eight hours, they will be paid an additional 30% on their hourly rate.
Work rendered during a special day that also falls on the employee's rest day will be paid an additional 50% of their basic wage for the first eight hours of work, and if done in excess of eight hours, they will be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate.
If an employee does not work on the holiday, the "no work, no pay" principle will apply unless a favorable company policy, practice, or a collective bargaining agreement grants payment on a special day.
