Domeng Forms East of North Luzon, Rains Expected

Two storms are enhancing the southwest monsoon.

A low pressure area located east of Northern Luzon intensified into Tropical Depression Domeng and would likely stir monsoon rains over parts of the country's main island, PAGASA said.

Domeng, the fourth storm of the year, became a tropical depression at 2 p.m., the weather bureau said. At 4 p.m. it was located 930 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph winds and 55 kph gusts.

While it is unlikely to hit land as it moves northwestward, Domeng, together with Tropical Storm Chaba outside the Philippines, will enhance the habagat and dump rains over the western coast of Central and Southern Luzon, said PAGASA.

It is seen to intensify into a tropical storm in the next 24 hours, and could exit the country by Saturday, July 2.
