A set number of domestic tourist can avail of free RT-PCR tests daily to build travel confidence as more local destinations reopen following a drop in cases, the Department of Tourism said last week.
Through the Tourism Promotions Board, the financial subsidy will cover the swab tests of 350 applicants per day at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.
The subsidy will cover only domestic tourists whose destination still requires a negative result from a RT-PCR test or for staycation purposes, the DOT said.
“As travel restrictions continue to ease up, we aim to encourage more tourists to visit their destination of choice by providing a full subsidy on RT-PCR testing. This program helps ensure the safety of tourists, tourism workers, and local stakeholders in various destinations," said Tourism Sec. Berna Romulo-Puyat.

Domestic tourists can apply for the free swab test online.
