Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Wednesday said the use of face shields should no longer be required in public spaces, citing its added burden on the pockets of Filipinos already struggling due to the pandemic.

Supporting an idea long-raised by health experts on social media, Moreno said the Philippines is the only remaining country in the world still requiring face shields as protection against the virus, he said, noting that the country now knows better and should rethink the policy.

We should adjust," he added.
