President Rodrigo Duterte might drop his plan to run for vice president if his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, seeks the presidency, a Cabinet official said Wednesday.

Secretary to the Cabinet Karlo Nograles was relating a portion of the President's weekly address to the nation that was cut from the version that aired late Tuesday night.

Nograles told CNN Philippines that in the unaired portion of the speech, the President said he was not in favor of a Duterte-Duterte ticket in 2022. Rappler reported, citing sources, that the elder Duterte also said that his top aide, Sen. Bong Go, would not run for president if it meant running against Sara.
