Duterte Receives Sinopharm COVID Vaccine

As per his doctor's advice.

(UPDATE) President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday received the first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.

Health Sec. Francisco Duque III administered the vaccine to the the 76-year-old leader.

"I feel good, and I've been expecting this shot, this vaccination a long time ago," Duterte said after the shot.

Earlier, Sen. Bong Go said the President can receive the Chinese-made jab as per his doctor's advice.

President Duterte received the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine even though it has yet to be authorized for emergency use in the country. So far, the vaccine has only been granted a "compassionate use" permit by the local Food and Drug Administration.
