President Rodrigo Duterte will sign the proposed P4.5 trillion 2021 national budget on Monday, Dec. 28, his spokesperson said Tuesday as the nation awaited the much-needed spending plan to uplift the economy from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Duterte will sign the budget in his hometown Davao City, his spokesperson Harry Roque said.

The President's economic managers are hoping to revive the economy in 2021 as vaccines roll out worldwide.

COVID-19 Vaccination czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. earlier said the government could sign a deal for the procurement of vaccines next week. The Philippines is hoping to start its immunization program in late March.
