Parts of Luzon and the Visayas will experience rainy weather on Saturday through early the next day as Tropical Depression Ester (Songda) hovers off the Philippines' northeastern waters, the weather bureau said.
Ester was spotted 550 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes at 10 a.m. Saturday, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph with 55 kph gusts. It is unlikely to hit land and is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility late Sunday.
Together with the habagat or Southwest Monsoon, Ester will stir heavy rains over the western portions of Central and Southern Luzon including Metro Manila, and the Visayas, PAGASA said.
