Face masks should still be worn, regardless of whether a person is ill or not, the Department of Health said Thursday, after a pre-lockdown advisory recirculated online.

The advisory dated Feb. 8, 2020, or before the first Enhanced Community Quarantine or ECQ, does not apply to the present because it was issued when face masks were in short supply, the DOH said.

Even undet Alert Level 1, wearing of face masks is required especially in crowded areas with no physical distancing, confined spaces with poor ventilation, and close-contact setings, the DOH said.

The DOH earlier recommended the use of face masks until the end of 2022 to protect against COVID-19 and other diseases.
