The government's Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 response is studying the possible removal of the face shield requirement, Malacañang said Tuesday as the country sees a decline in virus infections.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque acknowledged growing calls to remove the face shield requirements, which he said would stay, pending the results of the review of a technical working group.
"I can confirm po na habang bumababa ang mga numero ay pinaguusapan na rin kung ipagpapatuloy pa ang pagsuot ng face shield," he told Palace reporters.

The wearing of face shields on top of face masks in all public places was first made mandatory in December last year as the country prepared for possible spikes in COVID-19 cases post-Christmas and New Year.
In September, President Rodrigo Duterte removed the face shield requirement in outdoor areas but kept it in places with high risk of COVID-19 transmission.
The use of face shields has been a hot topic among Filipinos and government officials since the wearing of the gear is not mandatory in all countries.
