FDA Director General Eric Domingo Resigns

Time to move on to other things, he says.

Food and Drug Administration Director General Eric Domingo said Monday he resigned from the regulating body tasked to secure the safety and efficacy of drugs and other products.

Domingo, in a text message to reportr, confirmed his resignation from the FDA, saying it was "time to move on to other things."

"I think I did my part to help during the pandemic. I'm happy with that but now it is time to move on to other things," he said.

The Department of Health said Oscar Gutierrez, deputy director general of the FDA was assigned officer-in-charge of the body.

During his stint at the FDA, Domingo spearheaded the emergency use authorization of different COVID-19 vaccine brands as the Philippines grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Domingo took over leadership of the FDA after President Rodrigo Duterte sacked his predecessor Nela Charade Puno in what Malacañang described as part of the chief executive's "continuing mandate to eradicate graft and corruption.”
