A Filipino fisherman rescued two Chinese fishermen whose boat laid adrift off Palawan province. Two other Chinese nationals on the vessel were found dead, the Philippine Coast Guard said Saturday.

Mario Mabuhay, 51, spotted the boat carrying the four Chinese nationals some five kilometers off the shore of Barangay Canipaan, Rizal town, the PCG said. He towed the boat to shore after discovering that half its occupants were dead, the coast guard said.

The two survivors, 40-year-old Fu Wanke and 39-year-old Lu Yunian, said rough seas caused their boat to drift towards west Palawan, authorities said.

The casualties whose identities have yet to be determined were brought to the nearest funeral home, PGC said.
