The Department of Health on Monday said it recorded the Philippines' third Omicron variant case in a Filipino who arrived from Qatar.

The 36-year-old male OFW arrived at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport via Qatar Airways on Nov. 28, Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

He completed his quarantine in an isolation facility in Cebu before he went home to Cavite, where he is undergoing home qurantine, she said. He tested negative for the coronavirus on Sunday, said Vergeire.

Health authorities identified three close contacts of the patient, Vergeire said. All have undergone home quarantine and were negative of the coronavirus.

The country reported its first two Omicron variant cases on Wednesday. All three cases were imported.
