(UPDATE) JG Summit Petrochemical Corp said a fire broke out at plant site in Batangas City late Saturday.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. It was "isolated" and did not damage the manufacturing sites, JG Summit Petrochemical said. There were injuries among contractors and the workers were brought to tge hospital.
Overlooking Batangas Bay, the JG Summit Petrochemical in Barangay Simlong, Batangas City spans 250 hectares and house naphta cracker and polymers plants.

An isolated fire incident broke out last night, September 26, 2020, at the JG Summit Petrochemical Complex in Batangas City. First alarm was raised at 9:05 p.m., and fire out was declared at 11:55 p.m.
The incident occurred at a containment basin near the pier area, and did not spread to the main manufacturing sites.
The inhouse JG Summit Emergency Response Team responded immediately to contain the situation, with assistance from the Batangas City Bureau of Fire Protection Personnel, the City Risk Reduction Management Office and other firefighting volunteers from nearby facilities of KEPCO Ilijan Power Plant and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. Refinery in Tabangao.
Workers at the area were immediately evacuated. Those injured, mostly contractors, were provided immediate medical attention and were taken to Jesus of Nazareth Hospital in Batangas City for treatment.
JG Summit Petrochemicals Group and the Bureau of Fire Protection continue to monitor the area and are currently conducting a joint investigation to identify the cause of the incident.
