The Manila city government said Thursday it would provide free bicycles and safety gear to Foodpanda riders in support of freelance delivery bikers and of the city's economic recovery.
Under the pandaBIZikleta program, 30 beneficiaries will receive gear donated to the city government from the international relief organization Samaritan's Purse.
Beneficiaries will be onboarded as freelance delivery bikers and will receive P3,000 worth of Foodpanda rider kits consisting of uniforms, a thermal box, a thermal bag, and a panda mask, free of charge.
Succeeding beneficiaries of the project will receive discounts for Foodpanda kits.

With people forced to stay inside as a safety precaution against COVID-19, more and more delivery riders have taken on the task of bringing essentials to homes, putting them at risk for infection.
Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno encouraged riders to sign up for the vaccine through the city's inoculation program.
"Sabihin niyo sa mga driver A4 sila ha. Magpabakuna na sila," he said.

The pandaBIZikleta program will be administered by the Manila Public Employment Service Office, the city's arm for providing job opportunities to residents.
PESO-Manila will soon announce the requirements and other details regarding the application as beneficiary for the program.
