Commuters can ride the EDSA Carousel for free until December 2022 after President Bongbong Marcos approved a memorandum extending the service, the Department of Transportation said Friday.

This will ease the burden for commuters as living expenses rise, it said in a Facebook post.

Students can also ride the MRT, LRT-2 and PNR for free from Aug. 22 until Nov. 4, 2022 under the Libreng Sakay for Students Program covering the first quarter of the school year.

The DOTr said it recommended stopping the free rides for all MRT-3 passengers, because fares are heavily subsidized.
